50-501 protest on 4-5-2025

Hood County residents as well as 4 other counties joining us, as concerned American citizens protesting the actions of the current administration, gathered at the Square on April 5th, 2025. We gathered in a parking lot with about 50 walkers…… THEN as we looked into the distance we saw rows and rows of more protesters coming our way with Hands-Off posters. The head count at that point was approximately 170 concerned American Citizens standing up for Democracy. We had three to four generations of people walking with us. Some were in wheel chairs, walkers, on crutches and they were there to represent the population of voters who see the writing on the wall and the destruction that this administration is wreaking havoc on our Country. The first two protests had approximately 20 protesters, however, on this date, as we emerged around the corner of the Granbury Theater, the noise of the crowd of counter-protesters fell silent as they saw us coming, and coming, and coming. With approximately 200 Hands-Off protesters, we peacefully walked around the square chanting USA and other slogans. The counter-protesters had approximately 12 citizens purposely blocking elderly senior citizens with their bodies and flags causing some to stumble as they tried to walk thru the intruders. There were others who hurled childish insults and threats of violence, some had their small children yelling obscenities. We continued our task of standing up for Democracy in spite of the rude comments from the opposing side.
